The Benefit of Using Fire Retardant Tarps
Fire retardant tarps as sold by Tarps are certified fire retardant by the California State Fire Marshal. They are useful for a variety of applications and can come in handy for those regions where wild fires are a matter of local circumstance on a regular basis.
Fire retardant tarps are durable, and last a long time. Lets see all the specifications that make these tarps a good choice and then review just a few of the many applications you can put these tarps to with excellent results.
First, they come with a California State Fire Marshal certification for optimal fire retardantcy. They are specially treated and comply with the NFPA 701, CPAI-84, and The California 19 guidelines. They go through a strict two part testing process. First they are independently tested through a special agency and then they are tested a second time at the California State Fire Marshal's Office. This is why they can confidently bear the California State Fire Marshal tag which is attached on the edge of the tarp.
Secondly, they come in a durable 14x14 mesh count with a 12 mil thickness. They have been tested to a high standard of durability of 6 ounces per square yard of heavy duty polyethylene material. They are three ply with reinforced corners and eyelets for added durability. This makes them tear resistant yet flexible.
Additionally, they are coated with not just the fire retardant coating, but also a mildew proof coating, water proofing layer, and a UV resistant film on both sides. This ensures that they are sun rot resistant, water proof, and rot and mildew proof, and fire retardant. They are also acid resistant. With reinforced grommets every 18 inches, you can be sure they will perform as expected and meet or exceed your expectations when put to use.
Their finished size is usually around 4 to 5 inches less than when originally cut, this means the edges are extremely reinforced. So if you use them for roof covering, roofing material, temporary shelter for camping, or protecting objects or buildings, they will hold up against nearly anything thrown at them.
Fire retardant tarps usually come in white or silver. They can be put to a variety of uses including roofing covers, construction site material protection, to tie down loads, as shade covering, under objects to protect them from damp ground conditions, or on top of object, such as piles of wood or tents, to protect them from the effects of the sun or severe weather.
