Three Easy Steps to Choosing The Right Set of Fire Hose Reels and Accessories
The UK government is aware of the fact that fires can occur at any time and at any location. In recognition of this fact, it has implemented the Regulatory Reform or the Fire Safety Order 2005 which encompasses virtually covers almost all types of buildings, structure, and open spaces such as shops and offices; premises providing care; community halls; pubs, clubs and restaurants; schools; as well as hotels and hostels, to name just a few.

You would know that the product you are considering to purchase has passed tests and is in conformance with BS 336 if it bears the Kitemark seal awarded to products tested by the BSI group.

The type 2 fire hose is already sold with a set of wired-on alloy couplings and can be bought in 23-metre or 18-metre lengths. While the type 2 is outer-coated and can be used for smaller areas, the type 3 fire hose comes completely encased in rubber nitrile which facilitates easier flow rates—perfect for industrial use. We bought a brand new hose reel. We put an old hose on it and it leaked between the female end AND THE HOSE,?
so we bought a new hose and it has the same problem! It is not the hose gasket, since it is not leaking from that area, but from the connection of the hose end and the hose itself. Both the old hose and the new one leak the same way when attached to this hose reel.

If it is a gasket problem the joint between the hose and the swiveling female nut is exactly where it will leak. For some reason the nut isn't threading far enough onto the male end. Look for a rough spot on the male end on the hose reel that is preventing the gasket from seating or on the threads for a bad spot that is keeping the female nut from screwing far enough. Try doubling the gaskets if you don't find anything obvious. Teflon tape will seal the threads only.
