How to measure a top load filter bag
Cartridge filter and bag filter difference
In different filtration application, the option to choose a cartridge filter or a bag filter has to be decided, both can filter sediments, meaning they can both reduce the amount of sediment deposited from the fluid through filtration. In order to decide which one to use you need to know the difference between cartridge filter and bag filter, distinguish their difference, specially micron ratings and types of material being use. This is very important to avoid problems in the future.
There are two types of cartridge filter ; a depth type filter traps particles and contaminants through the medium itself. The second type is surface type filter the contaminants are trap and deposited on the surface, most of this type is made of thin media like paper, wire mesh and cloth. Depth type filters have to be disposed when it is clogged. Cartridge filters are designed for filtration rates from 0.1-500 micron.
The bag filter on the other hand is generally applied on industrial use. The method can be from the outside to the inside of the filter; this only means that particles are being separated on the external surface of the bag filter. Bag filters are not replaceable when they are clogged, but some bag filters use in gaseous applications like removing dust can be cleaned by backwashing or by using compressed air. Bag filters are mostly considered surface type filters. Most of the bag filters are made of nylon, polypropylene, and polyester. Bag filters have filtration rage from 1-1000 micron.
