The Firefighters Race Against Time
Jim knew that the fire bell would be sounding soon just by the look of the smoke. The problem was that the smoke was getting really thick around the house and he knew that it was just a matter of time before someone called the fire department that he was a member of. The problem was that it was not his house, but the neighbors house that was on fire.
Jim quickly grabbed a pair of pearl izumi shorts and ran out of the house. The bad thing was he did not realize that he grabbed the wrong pairs when he was leaving the house. He quickly realized what he did though and decided to turn around before the guys at the station seen him in what he was wearing.
The tones started dropping not long after he t dropping telling the department about the fire he already knew about. He heard that it was his neighbor that called in the fire so he was thankful about that, but he was just worried now about the diamondback bikes that he used to keep in the garage and he hoped they were okay.
Jim quickly ran out to his mongoose mountain bike and hopped onto it. He started pedaling as fast as his legs could carry him. The station thankfully was close to his house, but it would still take him a minute or two before he reached the station. Then he would see what kind of response they got.
He jumped into the cab and turned on the key to the truck so the diesel could start warming up. He also pushed the garage door button so that the door could start going up. The door quickly went up so he knew that this would not be a problem when he went to pull the truck out of the door.
While they were getting dressed into their turn out gear they started asking who would have nozzle. It was quickly decided that since Jim had just been their last night that it should be his. He also knew that he needed the nozzle to fight back the fire from spreading to his own house.
As Jim crawled into the building the nozzle tightly grasped in his hand he saw the flames rolling over his head. He was a little awestruck by this power, but quickly cracked open the nozzle and heard the reassuring hiss of the flames being beaten back. After the fire was out he walked over to his neighbor to check on him. Thankfully Jim saw the bikes sitting next to his neighbor with just a little bit of soot on the handles.

Frequently Asked Questions...
Are the Detroit Diesel 2 cycle engines such as the 6V53 and 6V71 still made?
If not, what would be the reason why they would be discontinued?
Answer:
It would appear that a German owned company called MTU-Detroit Diesel is still making the older style 2-cycle diesel engines for military and industrial applications. They stopped making them for highway vehicles quite a few years ago because of fuel consumption and environmental issues.
